EXPERIENCE

EXPERIENCE
2020-2021
Accountant / Process Management

Accounting

I have completed two co-op work terms with BBA Accounting Group and I am currently completing my third co-op work term with the same firm. Throughout my co-op's I put my academic knowledge to practical use by completing bookkeeping tasks, preparing excel synopsis', completing corporate year-end statements during the personal tax off-season. I then gained a strong foundation in preparing and filing trust returns and slips (T3s), employment and investment income slips (T4s and T5s), and personal income tax returns (T1s) during tax season. I used several accounting software programs to complete these tasks, such as QuickBooks, CaseWare, TaxCycle, and Office Tools Workspace. Through my academic and practical work experience, I am prepared to pursue a CPA designation.

2018-2019

Management

Supervisor / Leader

By the age of 19, I was taking on more responsibility by leading operations at the Ambleside concession stand. leading the team in the kitchen and front sales taught me how to delegate responsibility efficiently. Keeping track of the cash flow of the business through excel provided me with a deeper perspective of how a business operates day to day and week to week. Leading English language learning workshops in Madrid for INESLE allowed me to build my skills as a leader and educator. Learning how to lead and teach simultaneously has helped me motivate group members on various projects and tasks.

2013-2017

Sales

Barista / Salesman

From the young age of 15, I started working at the Beans on Lonsdale coffee shop. I was able to learn how a business operates on a day-to-day level and this started my spark for communicating with people to figure out how I can help best. I then started door-to-door sales for College Pro and Koltera to exercise my personable sales abilities. My persistence was key in this market and I became determined to sell by connecting with the customer.

EXPERTISE
Staying Active
Traveling / Adventuring
Learning

A healthy balanced lifestyle is very important to me. Fitness activities allow me to escape from reality and focus on achieving the physical goal I set for myself. I enjoy running, rock climbing, and golfing.

I have a huge passion for traveling! I have been to 30 different countries and want to travel more. Recently I went on an academic exchange to Madrid, then I went traveling to Norway where I lived at my family cabin and worked at our neighbor's sheep farm.

I practice consistent learning by developing new skills through self-taught programs like the 21 Day Data Challenge by Lighthouse Labs and by watching Tax Seminar Videos provided from my work at BBA Accounting. I also read and listen to podcasts to learn more about up-and-coming technologies.

Attending conferences is a great way to network with people in the community and gain industry-specific knowledge. Some of the previous conferences I have attended are:

  • 25th Annual Greater Victoria Business Banquet, January 2019

  • Gustavson School of Business Conference, March 2019

  • Beyond your BCom, May 2019

  • UVIC's Accounting Networking Evening

  • West Coast Virtual Fairs Jobs and Volunteer Expo

  • PEPSICO Foods National Student Career Fair
